Groundhog Day
Every February 2, before the sun comes up on Gobbler's Knob, a man in a top hat tells a crowd what a groundhog just told him. The forecast goes back to German farmers who watched the badger on Candlemas, and the Punxsutawney Spirit made it a town event in the 1880s. Most estimates put Phil's record below a coin flip, which nobody in the crowd seems to mind. Then a 1993 Bill Murray movie turned the holiday's name into a word for any day that keeps repeating. This hub has eight games on the folklore, the Inner Circle, Phil's rivals and the loop.
